Adele is a somatic oriented psychotherapist, certified trauma professional, public speaker, and spiritual integrationist. She is known for her warm, deeply engaged, and person-centered approach that presents clients with opportunities for clarity, growth, and connection. She strives to do this in trauma-informed and creative ways. Lots of times we know what's wrong or what we need to do but actually feeling better and getting unstuck requires something more. Adele offers experiential somatic and bottom-up therapies that consider the mind, body, and spirit.
Adele specialize in treating complex ptsd, religious trauma, and couples intimacy work. Her work with complex ptsd includes areas of expertise in shame recovery and healing developmental trauma. With couples her work includes discovering the attachment wounds disrupting their access to deeper security and impacting unhelpful patterns. She helps develop connected communication to strengthen and explore intimacy. In treating religious trauma, areas of expertise include bodily re-orientation, healing from purity culture, and supporting those exploring faith deconstruction.

Melanie is a somatic-oriented therapist who uses a holistic approach to empower clients to create the changes they seek in themselves and their relationships. She is a Certified Trauma Professional and offers spiritual integration work upon client request. Melanie strives to create safety and connection for all clients through her deep empathy and gentle demeanor, cultivating an environment in which clients develop meaningful self-discovery and change. Melanie strives to work collaboratively with her clients throughout the therapy experience and is unafraid to change course if necessary.
In her work with children and teens, Melanie uses informed play therapy techniques. Her appreciation for humor makes her relatable and approachable for all ages. Melanie is passionate about coming alongside families and intentionally seeks to support parents as they perform the world toughest (and most important) job.
In her work with couples, Melanie promotes increased attunement, healing of old wounds, and overcoming long-standing reactions that feel out of control. She educates clients on the power of healthy attachment. Through the use of Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, Melanie helps couples build closer and safer emotional, intimacy, and communication satisfaction. She is also a certified SYMBIS provider for premarital couples work.
Melanie's work with individuals is strengths based, trauma informed, multiculturally sensitive and observant of systems perspectives. She utilizes somatic experiencing, cognitive-behavioral, and experiential therapy styles to support clients in finding nervous system flexibility and trauma recovery.

Jen is our front desk and behind the scenes specialist! Having work experience in a number of unique positions in the past makes her a bit of a renaissance woman. Just to name a few, she was a medical records and front desk employee for a local endocrinologist, the Barnes& Nobel’s children’s department supervisor, administrative assistant to an online influencer, full time nanny, and amazing momma to two grown awesome humans. She loves working at SOMA because being a helper is her jam. She loves and thrives in helping SOMA stay organized and achieve its goals all while helping others in the process.

Dr. Kokoris

Dr. Kokoris (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Virginia and is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology (ABPP). She has a range of experience working with children and adults and specializes in psychological evaluation. Her approach to treatment is a combination of person-centered and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) that address client needs holistically. An individual approach to psychological evaluation is utilized to identify the assessment needs and to choose best-practice testing to provide clarification on diagnoses and to make recommendations for treatment. Dr. Kokoris is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA). She is also a member of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. Dr. Kokoris’ professional interests include multiculturalism, leadership, and providing supervision to psychology students and interns. Dr. Kokoris practices at Genesis Counseling Center in the Norfolk location.
